140 1970s James Brown relics were recently discovered in a storage locker in Atlanta Georgia. I had no clue the hardest working man in show business had his own t.v. show, but I guess this is one of the reasons he was dubbed the hardest working man in show business. The program was canceled after one season so we’re assuming their surplus of tees ended up in a storage locker that was abandoned and then sold off four decades later.
Sadly, even though they are Sportswear XLs (46!) – they max out at 19.25″ chests – in deadstock condition. Given they are 100% cotton too, once they get washed – these things become so small, not even advanced t-shirt stretching techniques will get you in one. Hey, it was the 70s, baby, everyone spent all their time dancing so they stayed slim.
Check out the ad for this exact t-shirt that aired during the broadcast:
Jimmy founded Defunkd in 2004 when he started selling vintage t-shirts online. 20 years of experience later and he hasn't looked back since. Actually, he looks back all the time given he's a sucker for nostalgia. For more, check the history of Defunkd and Jimmy's Expertise.
