The Pope Smokes Dope is the third album by David Peel and The Lower East Side, released on April 17, 1972 through Apple Records.

Peel, along with John Lennon and Yoko Ono, performed Peel’s “The Ballad of New York”, on The David Frost Show, with Lennon playing tea-chest bass. The trio, joined by The Lower East Side Band, played several songs by Lennon and Ono. This episode was recorded on December 16, 1971 and broadcast on January 13, 1972.

The 1980 U.S. Open was the 80th U.S. Open, held June 12–15 at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey. Jack Nicklaus set a new tournament scoring record to win his fourth U.S. Open title, two strokes ahead of runner-up Isao Aoki. This is the oldest golf shirt I have found.

“The Who Put The Boot In” Leg

This leg started on 22 May in Colmar, France and ended on 12 June in Swansea, Wales, with the three U.K. shows billed as “The Who Put the Boot In” in reference to their playing in football stadiums. This leg also featured the Guinness World Record-holder (at the time) for the loudest concert ever at The Valley in Charlton, England. Its volume from 50 meters away was at 120 decibels. Moon’s final European concerts also took place during this leg.Amazingly Scarce.

Bad Company are an English rock supergroup founded in 1973 by two former Free band members – singer Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke – as well as Mott the Hoople guitarist Mick Ralphs and King Crimson bassist Boz Burrell. Peter Grant, who also managed British rock band Led Zeppelin, managed the band until 1982. Bad Company enjoyed great success throughout the 1970s. A sweet print. Shame it’s on the small side.

National Lampoon’s Animal House is a 1978 American comedy film directed by John Landis. The film was a direct spinoff from National Lampoon magazine. It is about a misfit group of fraternity members who challenge the dean of Faber College.

Young Frankenstein is a 1974 American comedy film directed by Mel Brooks and starring Gene Wilder as the title character, a descendant of the infamous Dr. Victor Frankenstein. The supporting cast includes Teri Garr, Cloris Leachman, Marty Feldman, Peter Boyle, Madeline Kahn, Kenneth Mars, Richard Haydn and Gene Hackman. The screenplay was written by Wilder and Brooks.
