Etsy Joins Our Washington Ban!

Wooo whoooo! Back on July 27 we penned an open letter to Etsy inviting them to participate in our ban of Washington NFL merch. Then we reached out to our community to help spread the message through social. Many of you went beyond the call of duty, messaging them directly to share our letter and for that we thank you! Our efforts caught the attention of numerous American Indian based social accounts who appreciated our policy and put their social weight behind the ban. Well, we just got a heads-up from SkippyHaha that earlier today Etsy emailed their shop owners ... Read more

Who Is A. Curtis Greeley?

It’s a damn good question and maybe you can help answer it! Our most recent vintage t-shirt shipment contained some real gems, Harley, Nike, and numerous rock tees. (You can always get a sneak peek at the items coming soon to our shop via our Instagram.) But of all the goodies, this t-shirt really stood out among the piles of poly-cotton. While sorting I commonly find old tees that baffle the mind and defy explanation. Google searches come up empty and the t-shirt remains a mystery to me. This is one of them. There are few clues: Given his hair and ... Read more

Dear Etsy re: Washington’s R-Word

Hi, I’m Defunkd. Not sure if you even know I exist, but, in the last few years our community has built an independent niche marketplace. Some people describe us as the “Etsy for Vintage Tees.” We take that as a compliment, given we’ve always been fans of yours! I’m writing you because we recently decided to prohibit the sale of vintage Washington NFL tees because they use the R-word. We’re inviting you to join us. Your crafty vendors do what they do best by transforming Washington’s branding into handmade items – from sexy lingerie to dog scarfs. Plus, girls’ dresses, baby onesies and diapers! Even ... How to Grade and Measure Vintage T-Shirts

So you’ve decided to put your coveted vintage t-shirt collection up for sale? You’ve come to the right place. Over the last decade, I’ve personally graded and measured roughly 10,000 t-shirts. My eBay feedback alone numbers 5,000+, typically, only a fraction of buyers leave feedback. In other words, I’m now clinically insane. But before the men in the white suits snatch me up, I’ve managed to put together this little guide for grading. Create a Proper Workspace Before you begin, make sure the area you’ll use for analyzing the t-shirt is free of all clutter. I have a spot directly to ... Read more

The Great Vintage Tee Depression?

According to Google and its handy search trends graph, we are indeed in the toughest times vintage tees have seen in the last decade. While the numbers are quite telling, I don’t think it’s as scary as it initially looks. The internet and how people search it has changed dramatically over the last decade. In 2004, Google dominated the web. There was no Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, or Instagram. Facebook launched in 2004 – but unless you were in college or university at the time, you’d probably never heard of it. When people fired-up their browsers, most times a Google property ... Read more
