Vintage Iron Maiden Remember the Alamo Texas T-Shirt

Standard Certification ID: DfnkdC-002

This vintage T-shirt has undergone a meticulous in-person examination by an authenticator (James A.), who has concluded that it is an authentic Iron Maiden Alamo / Texas Jersey T-shirt from 1983.

This garment is in used condition and graded as Good, with some flaws.

The front and back feature artwork by Derek Riggs, Maiden's original artist from 1980 until 1992.

This item is in Good condition.

The following factors contributed to this grade:

There is minor pilling around both armpits on both sides.

There is a small and faint mark on the lower rear.

There is a faint mark above "Tejas" on the rear.

There is a faint mark on the rear, to the right of the tower.

There is an overall faint yellowing on the white, darker in some stripes along each side and lower front and back.

This is exaggerated when the piece is photographed against a light background.

There is a slight print fade, likely from wash and wear, on the back where the tour stops are showcased.

Additionally:

  • There are no holes, rips, or seam separations.
  • There are no signs of any repair.
  • Close-ups reveal fabric fuzz typical in a garment of this age that's been washed and worn.
  • The collar's elasticity is good, not visibly stretched.
  • Given this is a white-based t-shirt, dry rot is not a concern. It is also clearly used. That said, I am unaware of dry rot ever occurring specifically on the black arms of a jersey.
  • The T-shirt is moderately thinned from wash and wear, expected for its age.
  • The print registrations are both within tolerance levels, with nothing noteworthy to report.
  • There is a potential slight ink mishap on the front R, where a small portion of red is missing.

Color Profile:  The front features 9 colors: Black, Red, Blue, Grey, Orange, Beige, Green, Brown, and Yellow.  This, however, may have been achieved with eight ink colors and mixing two, like in the case of the yellow flame; this is likely red and yellow, and not orange ink (more on this below.)

The back features four ink colors: Red, Black, Grey, and Blue.

Print type: Flat screen with half-tone dots.

The print registrations are excellent, with no creases or noteworthy issues. Both sides are within tolerance levels.

On the front, there is a tiny bit of missing red ink on the R in IRON MAIDEN, which was likely caused by fuzz during the print or even from wear.

To my earlier point, this is the "orange" flame shown from the inside, where we can see it's made up of red and yellow ink.

"I bought it from the original owner, who got it at one of the shows! He was a concert addict I worked with for over a year, buying hundreds of shirts he’d collected over decades. Most of them he never even wore, but this one he wore a lot through the 80s, and he said it was one of his favorites out of all of them."

This piece was created by Derek Riggs, who was Maiden's exclusive artist from 1980 until 1992. Riggs also created Eddie, metal's most famous mascot. His insignia is within the front artwork, near Eddie's boot.
