Alien 1979 You Are My Lucky Star Authentication

Post by Waxson77 »

Hello all, I am looking to see your opinion on if this shirt is real or fake. It's a 1979 Alien You Are My Lucky Star single stitch shirt. The tag is unfortunately missing. My concerns are compared to the sample on the site, my font on ALIEN looks lighter and maybe slightly different font on the E? Also, the M in T.M. is slightly filled in. The small 'Song copyright 1935 mgm' is gray on mine but white on the sites comparison. It measure 17 inches pit to pit and about 24-25 inches length, believed to be a small. Are these concerns just due to washing and age? Thanks for your opinion and information!

Very cool.

When compared to this:

Yes, the variance could be easily explained by slight change in the screen printing process, just a little more or little less ink.

The you are my lucky star part lines up very nicely too.

Interestingly, the E in ALIEN is usually lined up fully. With both of these tees the middle strike is a little shy of lining up. But that's just lack of continuity in the early days of merch.

Also, looks like yours is likely a Spruce tag too?
