Hello defunkd boards,
I’m a record guy so I need to enlist the help of the vintage t-shirt experts in this forum to get to the bottom of my vintage t shirt mystery.
I bought the Guns N’ Roses t shown in the pics below from a flea market vendor a couple weeks back. Being a long time record digger, I have a pretty sharp phony detector, which is why I was wary of this t-shirt. It was really clean and the colors were vivid. The reason I ended up going for it is because this vendor definitely had some legitimate vintage clothing as evidenced by the tags on the tees and sweatshirts. Of course the GnR tee I grabbed didn’t have it’s original tag, so I brought it home and started researching. Below is a list of the reasons, I believe it may be a repro and a list of the reasons I believe it’s authentically vintage.
Can someone help me make a final determination before I throw this thing on eBay?
Why I think it might be a repro
1. The tag is missing
2. The colors are really vivid. Repro or vintage, the shirt was not worn much
Why I thing it might be authentic
1. The vendor had a lot of genuinely vintage clothing
2. The design and colors match closely to other authentic versions of the tee
3. The copyright sign is in place
4. I didn’t see any repro of this tee on eBay, at least none listed as repros
5. It smells old, like it’s been in storage forever
6. It feels thin and like 50/50
I realize I know nothing but I thought I'd provide the logic I employed in my speculation process.

Looks legit from here. Tag missing is common for true vintage too. Is there any remnants of the tag under the flap?
I think it's vintage.
I think it's vintage.

That's excellent news! I realize this isn't a guarantee but I feel much better after getting a pro's opinion. No remnant of the tag left unfortunately. Two final questions: does it appear to be authentic enough to sell through this site? If not, may I reference this site in my eBay listing? Thank you so much.

Well - we typically only accept sellers with large qtys of tees. Ebay it!

Modern re-print. Pretty easy to spot if u compare it with the shirts from late 80’s
