Re: Dry Rot

Fairly certain Jimmy has narrowed it down.

It's a chemical in the black dye that ultimately disintegrates the fabric.

Years of extreme temperature changes would also contribute to the process.

Re: This is Sad...

Sorry to hear about your experience Max. Seems like there's always someone out there effing things up for everyone else. If it were me I'd tuck that tee back into my collection for another year or so until the jerk who caused you so much grief disappears back into the shadows where they came from ...

Re: ~70s Champion Notre Dame Bookstore Jersey Shirt/Tee

The green jersey looks to be dead stock. Still has the paper like tag under the Champion Blue Bar that was meant to be torn out. The hole punch in that tag indicates that the jersey never sold at full retail and was considered unsold merchandise to be marked down later or returned to vendor for ...

Re: Champion Running Man fit

I've run across this same issue pretty much across the board in terms of categories (in other words not just sports related t-shirts) but usually always with 70's and early 80's tees. I'd have to say it's always vexed me. I could never understand why some tees seemed to have these unusual lengths ...

Zero value to 99.9% of vintage t-shirt collectors. Most wouldn't even pay $.50 for it.

Re: Awesome Cramps tee.

Yes. The black screen moved or got bumped during the printing process. Consequently the black didn't line up with the red. Black is always the last color to be printed. In this case the red would have been printed first and then the black. The t-shirt does not move during the printing process as it ...

I think when all is said and done the seller in Thailand honestly thought it was the real thing.

It happens to the best of us sometimes. :geek:

Re: What's up with this Sneakers shirt?

It happens sometimes when the garment is being constructed. The sewers are moving so fast that a section of the t-shirt gets caught and stitched together that shouldn't be. It's purely human error during the manufacturing of the t-shirt.

Someone at some point was attempting to fool their buyers. Upon closer inspection of the suspect tee, you can see where the copy right date and info was rubbed off along the backside of the cowgirls left boot. Original reproduction t-shirt printed by Junk Food Clothing Company with copyright: 2006 ...

Here it is. The exact reproduction t-shirt made by Junk Food, auctioned off by eBay seller parinya1984 claiming it's an original from the 70's. The tee in the auction photos has just been dirtied up a bit with the tag torn out. http://www.asos.com/Junk-Food/Junk-Food-New-York-Dolls-T-Shirt/Prod ...

Re: New York dolls vintage shirt

Ya for sure Jimmy. Typically a tee from the 70's would be like 18" x 28". Very thin and long. Or just completely tiny like 16" x 21" The design is definitely 1973-74. I've seen the genuine t-shirt in book somewhere I just can't remember what book it was. The original is valued at over $1,000.00 I ...

This graphic is very distinctive from between the years 1980 to 1983. It's definitely early 80's. The muscle tank was also very popular during this time. Just look at how many of the 1983 "US Festival" tees are the muscle tank. By 1985 surf and skate companies had transitioned away from this kind of ...

The seller's eBay ID is parinya1984 in Bangkok, Thailand. I studied the photos of this auction for the entire week it was listed. The more I looked at it the more I became convinced that it is a fake. Here's the original listing http://www.ebay.com/itm/290773245825?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid ...

Re: 1987 Harley Davidson Tee with Hanes tag

@RyanB where's the 1987 date? Is it real small at the bottom of the graphic? If so, that's the copy right date of the artwork not necessarily the date the t-shirt was printed. Many times earlier copy righted graphics are used repeatedly years following the original date the artwork was created and ...

One of the very first bands I ever saw play live believe it or not was Black Flag on Aug.21 1981 at the long closed but infamous California punk club "The Cuckoos Nest". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuckoo's_Nest_(nightclub) Original flyer for the show http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/6485 ...

@tupper I've found that soaking vintage white tees with Oxy Clean in hot water works really well at getting the white to come back to life. Just make sure the Oxy powder is completely dissolved in the water and don't soak for too long. Maybe 15 minutes or so should do the trick. http://img201 ...
