Re: HELP!!! Is This a Fake or Real GIANT TAG?
Good eye. This isn't something I have ever noticed, but you're right, the majority of text below most of the various GIANT tags is all upper case.
I went through the Defunkd tag database and was unable to find one with a website in lower case:
https://www.defunkd.com/brand/giant/
also, our tag study doesn't have it as an example:
https://www.defunkd.com/giant/
Another thing to note is how the tag appears to be sewn in, as it looks not to be part of the original construction of the shirt. That said, we see instances of that across a ton of vintage brands, and it's not necessarily anything to worry about - there is a legit reason for a tag being added "aftermarket."
This one looks a little odd with what appears to be two different stitches holding it on?
What is the print on the t-shirt, btw so I can look to find others?
One thing to consider is - would someone go through all the trouble of creating a fake tag that otherwise looks well done and mess that small detail up? I doubt it.
And a quick initial search I was able to find this from a Weezer tag from 2000 with this exact tag and the same fastening seams.
But we'll dig around more to make sure - and let me know what that print is.
