Hi there! I'm relatively new to collecting vintage tees.
When did printed labels (in the neck of the shirt) instead of tags become common?

Great Q and we're currently working on a full post about it...because I recently saw an IG t-shirt guy claim that they started in 2008, and that "it's not vintage" if you have a printed tag. It actually started in the 70s (maybe earlier,) though not mainstream like in the mid to late 2000s. As a general rule you could say the vast majority of them haven't yet reached "vintage" yet, but like most general rules, like the single-stitch claims, there are a lot of exceptions that make it pretty unreliable.
We're actually waiting to hear back from a second t-shirt maker that had branding in the inside collar.
