I've seen similar prints from the 80s.

This one is dated 1990.

What is the brand name? With the fading, I can't tell.

I've sold the EXACT same type of tee, but my tag was faded blank. But my copyright year 1988 or 89.

so apparently Joe Camel shirts are doing really well for some reason? Why is this?

And there's a slew of them sold for high prices in the completed listings....

A celebrity is rocking them? What's going on here? Or is the subliminal advertising finally working?

Yes I've been following this trend. It's only that particular design that does well, and only the 12-15% rayon blend shirts go for high. Always all the bidders are in Thailand, Malaysia, and occasionally Singapore. Usually this shirt goes for $80-$200. But $400+ i think is unprecedented.

I have one up currently, but unfortunately its a 50-50 blend tee  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0361018658

As to why this particular shirt is so big in a couple countries in Asia, no clue. Perhaps one of our Thai forum members can chime in.

Very true, I have a customer in Malaysia who messages me once a week asking if I have any cotton/poly/rayon shirts. Something I also started learning since I got on etsy.

Absolutely. Malays and Thais are valued customers :) I guess rayon blend t-shirts are very popular out there since they are incredibly soft, flexible, and cool. :?:

as i know..this joe camel shirt became popular because it was worn by one of The Strokes member..and lot of Malaysian teenagers like that band..that was before vintage shirt invade our country..now when we are crazy about vtg..this shirt become more popular as it come with rayon blend which are more rare then any other blend..

that was my opinion..i’m not a joe camel fan..i’ll go after vtg punk tee..

The tag name is Silkworm. I had like 4 old Joe Camel shirts with this same label, and like an idiot included 2 of them in a cheap unsold lot years ago :( . I still have them boxed up somewhere. Need to look for them now.
