where to research t-shirt values, era, etc. besides here?

Post by hokeypix »

Besides here at DEFUNKD (obviously!! My fave!) where else do you all go to research t-shirt values, dates, and other info in order to help price them as a seller?

If I can't find the answer here at Defunkd, I usually check out Google, ebay (completed auctions), Worthpoint, and etsy...am I leaving anything out?

Your favorite resources would be very welcome! There are so many tees, and so little time...!

Also, when searching, which keywords are best? tee, shirt, or tshirt?

Thanks in advance!

RedCloud has always been a go to for me outside of Defunkd. They have a great label resource for t shirts and other vintage clothing.

There's also the Vintage Fashion Guild that has another good label resource. Although, not so much t shirts, but other vintage clothing.

Thanks re: Red Cloud! Never knew about it. Longtime user of VFG label resource (as I deal in other vintage besides tees) but Red Cloud is new to me.

This is a great question. RedCloud has some good stuff, the Vintage Fashion Guild is a little out of my wheelhouse, but also nice to know about. I'm wondering if there are any other online or offline resources that people know about?

I'm aware of a couple of books, none of which I own. DJ Ross One's collection of rap tees, which definitely looks cool and has a great cover, but sells for $100+

And the Lightning/Clutch stuff like Nike Chronicle Deluxe (http://www.lightningclutch.com/lightning-magazine.html).

Looks like they have a couple of tee specific ones, too. Has anybody seen these?

The only other thing I know about is merch catalogs from a given year for particular vendors, like this WWF from 1995. You can find a bunch, like this one, on ebay

Or tour merch catalogs, like this one, also on ebay at the moment

The only one I've seen from that list is Rap Tees. I thought I had a decent chunk....was always missing the Rin Tanaka Inspiration books too.

I had no idea any of those existed! Thanks for posting that pic

I just bought the Lisa Kidner/Sam Knee Classic Rock T-Shirts on ebay to start off my collection. The seller has 4 or 5 other copies if anyone else is interested. It came out to $11 and change.
