Hello! Found this Elvis tee recently. I want it to be from the 50s but I can't know for sure. The neck tag is missing. It's in good shape. No holes but some yellow pits and collar.
I'm going to ebay it. But for how much?

Hehe - early 70s - he was still in Karate shape then.

But I think the tee could be from anytime before before he died in 1977 since an artist wouldn't typically draw the fat bizarro version of Elvis.

CRAZYBUBBA would know better than I - he might even be interested in buying it.

Cool information about Tropix Togs though:

In the early 1950s several companies based in Miami, Florida, started to decorate T-shirts with different resort names and various characters. The first company was Tropix Togs, under founder Sam Kantor, in Miami. They were the original license for Walt Disney characters that included Mickey Mouse and Davy Crockett. Later, other companies expanded into the T-shirt printing business, including Sherry Manufacturing Company, also based in Miami. Sherry started in 1948 by its owner and founder Quinton Sandler as a screen print scarf business and evolved into one of the largest screen printed resort and licensed apparel companies in the United States.

Cool thanks for your 2 cents. I had read that bit about Tropix Togs... made me want it to be way older.

I'm not super versed on my Elvis stuff. I assume people are still fanatical about him?

Anyone want to take a stab at the value of this shirt? Auctions are no good this time of year.

Dating:
The pic on the shirt is from Elvis' 1968 comeback special (see pic below), so it's definitely not from before then. Re: dating I agree with the above posts, you'll see a marked change in elvis prints towards the end of the 70s.

Desirability/Price:
This is the kind of print that I regularly hunt for on ebay. On ebay now, the only comparable piece is offered by Vintage Retro Wear for about $72, but he's had it up for almost a year and who knows how much it'll actually sell for. I'd say put it up at full price, Elvis tees don't do well at auction.

Side note: I'm going to watch my copy of the comeback special again to see if anyone is wearing a similar tee. However, I don't think that there were any concert/promo tees officially made for the event.

I'm interested, email me and we can do a trade/sale.

Awesome. Thanks for the info!

I'm not in a huge hurry to sell it. Maybe I'll wait until the Fall when things pick up a bit on ebay.
I like having it hanging up on my wall for now.
