Post by cokenner »

I Remembered I had read some on Duke Kahanamoku aloha shirts in a blog entry on here. Any idea on price? Auction/Fixed Price? I was pretty stoked with the find! Thanks in advance!!!

I would try an auction....start it at $49.99. Hard to get a pulse on which one of these designs fly, I haven't looked in years. But if it's listed right and one of value - you'll find out fast - just price it high enough so it doesn't slip away - and if there are no bids park it at a fixed price. I noticed some of tags look similar but don't say "unconditionally washable" so perhaps 50s/60s piece? Hawaiian expert I am definitely not! Keep us posted!

I was kinda iffy about ironing it to make the pics come out a little better. I'm not sure if I trust myself putting a hot iron on something so old, much less rayon which I don't think I've ironed before. You think I should iron and add some pics or is it fine the way it is? Just something that has been bothering me a bit. Thanks!

The shirt ended up selling for $215.50 to someone in Japan. Seems the Japanese are a big fan of American vintage!

Also, something I found horribly ironic; someone from Japan buying a HAWAIIAN shirt for the 1940s-50s!

Nonetheless, I'm happy!! Thanks for all the tips/info!
