I know this subject has been mentioned in passing on this forum. These groups have faded from memories, and into obscurity. Yet they live on in rag bales and on thrift store racks. It's always exciting to find a shirt from some band you've never heard of, but when the listings languish, it's obvious not a single person has this particular band in their saved searches.

Take for example this POSSUMDETH t-shirt. I've had it up on and off for about 60 days and it's had a total of about 10 unique hits. Zero watchers. It's even signed by the band, which was an Orange County pub/sleaze rock set circa 1990

The one that has always baffled me is "Chilling Vision" I purchased it from a record store three years back that was liquidating all the old promo shirts on eBay. Stormcrow will probably remember Bills:

It was a goldmine of every type of genre, and lots of obscure ones too. One of the best ones I got was a disco band called, Heatwave that did an anthem called Boogie Nights. The shirt I wish I never let get away.

Anywho, Chilling Vision, "State of the art Metal" was in my store for a few years, in the listing description I even asked people to help me figure out who they were. Finally someone bought it and I asked him what he knew...he said he had no clue it was just a cool shirt.

I got this cool email from a member of CV:

"My name is Phil C. I was the bass player in the band Chilling Vision.
We are from Altoona PA. Crazy seeing our shirt on your site. We broke up in
89 after opening for some great bands like Exodus, Dream Theater,
Wrathchild America, M.O.D. to name a few. Thanks for posting the pictures.
We were also known as Giornesto. If you google that name you get some info.

Here's an amazing, bittersweet, vintage t-shirt ebay story.

I sold the Possumdeth shirt a little while back, and received this feedback: "after 20 years, the shirt has finally returned home."

I queried the buyer if he/she had anything to do with the band, etc. and received this reply:

i bought the shirt for my roommate, Garth. He was 1 of the signatures on the shirt. his good friend, Don Raulin, also a signature on the shirt, just passed away from brain cancer. He was quite emotinal to see the shirt. he even remembered the messed up pen he had to use to sign it 20 years ago. they only signed about 10 shirts, so yes, it is very obscure. http://www.myspace.com/possumdeth" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

A happy ending...!

Here's one I found that the seller has listed as Dead or Alive..."You spin me round, like a record baby" which is somewhat obscure...but on further investigation I don't believe it's them. It's a band called "Blood on the Saddle" so it's even more obscure.

Man things were sure different 25 years ago. Hang on to that tee James. It's actually quite valuable in some NWOBM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) collector circles. Even though the band was from Philadelphia.

Hypnolovewheel: even my most hardcore music fan friends glazed over when I mentioned the name. The few references on the internet have tiny entries that say "unjustly neglected..." and then trail off. A couple of not-bad tracks on Youtube. I'm hoping unjustly neglected translates into $$$ when I put it up in September.

I know this post is as old as dirt, but I have to weigh in on Heatwave. They were a hybrid funk/r&b band that had some serious classics. Boogie Nights was one, and so was Groove Line, but for r&b listeners, their signature song was Always & Forever, a wedding staple and useful for *ahem* seduction.

And if you're a hip-hop fan, Ain't No Half-Stepping was famously sampled by Big Daddy Kane.
