What happened to oneita brand t-shirts?
I find a bunch of vintage oneita tees, but it looks like they shut down. Anyone know when and what happened?
Re: What happened to oneita brand t-shirts?
Good Q.
Looks like the lasted in to the early aughts - here's a full company overview of activities:
https://google.brand.edgar-online.com/e ... qxOZW6i4J7
"At September 26, 1998, the Company had approximately 2,350 full time employees. Approximately 130 of the Company's manufacturing employees are covered by a collective bargaining agreement with the Union of Needletraders, Industrial and Textile Employees. The agreement which expired in October 1998 has been extended and the Company and its union are engaged in discussions to renew the agreement for an additional three years."
Best way to search is for "ONEITA INDUSTRIES" - which helped trigger this review site, where a few employees gave it good reviews, but it shut down:
https://www.indeed.com/cmp/Oneita-Industries/reviews
Two employees mention the closure, one says it was "Forced to shut down."
"(d) Premises are leased through November 30, 2002"
I guess you would say the company is defunct.
Lots of examples of various Oneita tags here:
