Anyone know anything about this tee or its tag? Completely single stitch.

I can't find a match for that tag. What is the pit to pit?

I’m not confident I measured it right but I’m pretty sure the pit to pit is in the area of 23-24 inches

This is a tough one, I can't find any evidence of that tag, anywhere. Maybe it's the predecessor to this:
https://www.defunkd.com/brand/redwood/
but that doesn't make much sense since it appears to have emerged in the 1990s. I managed to see the back of one of these tags, and there's no RN number or way to trace it to see how long it's been around.
The size is quite big even for a 2x of that era, so it could be a limited-run old-timey throwback tag.
That graphic is also widely available.

These fight card t-shirts are usually a throwback of some sort.
Can you do a few closeups of the print?

Doesn't look very sharp, or a screen print.
I think we need to find where that tag is from before any type of determination could be made.
What did the seller sell it as? From the 70s?

Yes I was told it was from the 70’s

First mission, find more of those tags. Then try to find more tags from the 70s that are labelled 2XL, and have those robust measurements.

Any idea how I should approach searching? And what happens if I can’t find any with the same tag? Thank you with your help so far

I've tried using image search, no hits except for this page.
I looked up Ali Frazier tees on WorthPoint and couldn't find a match.
I tried Gem.app, nothing there but you could set up an Alert.
You could go through eBay listings and put "vintage t-shirt redwood" and then select "include description" there's about 350 results you could see if any other redwood tags like yours happen to be there - but usually google image search would kick those back.
I'm just finishing a similar type of authentication where the case went cold for about 8 years, and FINALLY the same t-shirt appeared, and I was able to make sense of it all.
Patience may be required, ha.

So in your opinion what are the odds of this being authentic? That’s my main concern.

Low at the moment, simply because there is nothing to compare it to and several red flags. This is just the way we have to approach it given the limited info and mysterious nature of the tag.

Okay, what are the red flags so I know for reference?

Mysterious Tag, we can't find another one.
2XL size in the 70s is less seen, especially with those robust measurements.
Print image is easily attainable and a perfect candidate for DTG print.
I didn't look into this too deeply, but I don't think fight cards generally weren't made into t-shirts then, usually a throwback of some sort.
