Deadstock 80's 90's advice

Post by MufC1999 »

Hi, first time post, recently picked up a load of vintage deadstock 80's & early 90's tshirts amongst other items from a shop basement, I've attached a few pics.

I've never dealt with deadstock vintage shirts before, these are all cello taped in cellophane or shrink wrapped.

I'm just thinking if I am better to just open these or not before selling? I was thinking just to check for dry rot/any condition issues etc and to get measurements etc for selling or would opening these decrease the value a lot? What would you do?Any advice appreciated. Cheers

Oh wow congrats, good score! is this all of them or did you find tons?

I can spy a Just Brass tee, which might have a 3d Emblem tag.

The band ones appear to be all vintage bootlegs, but still awesome.

Yes, open them. Or if you have doubles, at least open one so you can test it for dryrot and get the full proper measurements.

I don't think being in the wrap helps the value at all - in some cases it does, like I have an Andy Warhol tee I'm leaving in the package because it's branded.

Hi Jimmy , thanks for the info, I will open these now, it's much more fun that way for me anyway. I do have lots more and duplicates! The Just Brass is indeed 3D Emblem, I'm hoping there is much more of these!

The bootleg bands from the 80's , do these sell well, is there a good market for them?

Attached some more pics.

My fave so far is the Cycle Sluts from hell, the allover white tiger is pretty sick also, not that i'd wear it.

Again I appreciate your feedback.

Cheers

what a score! I didn't realize cycle sluts was a band.

Yes, a lot of collectors love obscure bootlegs of their fav bands, sometimes can be worth more.

The South Will Rise is :?

Is that all of them? What's the story behind your find? Do you want to do a promo on IG, if you haven't already?

Also, what size is the Rebel James Dean?

Hi Jimmy, this is not all of them, these were just in a bag that I took home to have a look through. There is 2 large tubs in my storage still to go through, 1 of the tubs I know is full of deadstock 90's branded band shirts the other tub I'm not sure.

These were part of a large "Joke shop" clearance in my home town in Scotland around 4 years ago when they closed their business after 60 years of trading.

Once I get around pulling the others out I will come back to Post.

I will check the size of the James Dean when I get a chance.

These will most likely be put on eBay in the near future as my brother sells on there.

Cheers

Ok once you sort through em all - shoot some pics, I can help ya promote the auction, through our Instagram. Can do a post about the discovery and story, and link to your eBay items. So stay in touch! Excited to see what else remains!
