Re: Modern Day Bootleggers?
I'm a longtime collector and seller and wonder if I've ever been discussed on this board as being a bootlegger. I have a decent sized cache of deadstock shirts, many of which were made by winterland. One in particular is a Tone Loc Shirt with a very heavy silk screen on the front. i bought them from winterland when their warehouse moved in 2001/2002. The shirts were so minty that they still smelled like the inks. I'll have to start posting some pieces in the show and tell section, I've got a lot of interesting shirts. I've been working in a different field for the past few years and haven't been able to sell on ebay, but I've got the itch again and have been accumulating like crazy.

@theteetotaler - doubtful - we've got a good eye and nose for sniffing out the fakers. We take way more in to consideration than just an item being deadstock - design/printing flaws, feedback, lack of tags, suspicious posting practices, blurry closeups, etc.
I've come in to a few hauls of deadstock from the garages of ex-merch managers - we know they're out there.

Academy Clothiers - nothing really new here but funny they are still peddling the Humpty repro:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dl ... 798wt_1378
as well as the original they likely had that copied from:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dl ... 798wt_1378
plus - all of the iron on / heat transfer star wars tees they had converted in to fake vintage screen prints:

ridiculous.

Re: Modern Day Bootleggers?
Not that it really matters or anything, but all those "burnout" Star Wars tees- they sold a book of iron-on transfers back in the day, like 20 in the book or so. They were shitty ink transfers instead of the vinyl or whatever most transfers are made from. So they look all faded because it just bleeds into the material, rather than being pressed onto it. I made on for my son because I didn't want to spend the money on a true original just so he could spill everything on it.
