Hey all. So I've discovered a local sporting goods store is going out of business that has been active since 1977. They were your typical run of the mill sporting goods store with screen printing, trophy making, etc for the local schools. I have found multiple blanks as well as some NOS shoes at our local thrift stores with their store tags on them, so once I saw they were going out of business I inquired about their surplus. Turns out they have hints of 70s/80s tri blend and 50/50 blanks throughout their store as they have start to go through stuff and I asked if they had more available for bulk purchase. Well, they have a warehouse supposedly full of stuff. Just in the small store alone I've found 70s/80s Russell blank sweats (tri blend and 50/50) which includes adult and youth sizes.
What I'm trying to do is get a decent strategy on what to buy and for how much. Should I even bother with youth sizes? I'm thinking, if there's a lot, I could score tees for .25 to 1.00 a pop. I have yet to see the warehouse, so all this is going off small samples, what they say, and assumptions. I'll be hopefully meeting with the store manager within the week to discuss more. Any advice on how to approach this would be greatly appreciated.
Re: Tips for Buying in Bulk (Business Liquidation)
I would avoid youth sizes unless they are dirt cheap. They'll likely be happy to get rid of as much as they can quickly for a lump sum. All depends on how motivated they are and how organized the inventory is. So be prepared for a big buy and have a truck ready! Ask them what they want per tee - and then make a bulk offer for less.
And please let me know what you score - and if you want to turn a bunch over for a quick flip! We have been desperately looking for vintage blanks in bulk for Defunkd branded tees.

Sounds like some pretty good advice. I'm sure I can get the kids stuff for cheap, we'll see though. As for some bulk tees I'm sure we can manage something! I'll update once I get an idea of what is available to me. Thanks as always for the reply Jimmy.

Well it all ended up being a whole bunch of nothing. What I had found in the main store was a very small sample and was nothing like in the warehouse .
As for vintage blanks for the defunkd shirts, are you wanting strictly tri blend tees? I have some NOS blank jersey shirts with Sportswear tags from the 80s ranging from small to x large and some jersey shirts made by Pride (which I haven't seen) in large to x large. They're all cotton/poly. Had em for a while.
