Measuring Questions

Post by ohchirp »

Thanks in advance for the answers!

- When measuring pit to pit, do you measure from the intersection of the seam from one pit to the other? Or is it the natural "lay" of the pit? (I have some shirts where the seams were off, or the shirt stretched from wash/wear so this might throw off the vintage size of the year it was purchased.)

- When measuring the back collar to bottom, is it from the top of the collar or the bottom of the collar?

I'm concerned some of my 80's shirts are a bit too stretched to authenticate them.

Good Qs.

We covered a bit of this here: https://www.defunkd.com/blog/2014/06/08 ... measuring/

But the question about pit to pit - I try to do seam intersection to seam intersection - but as you said sometimes the tee is misshaped - so then I do what you suggested and just lay it flat and measure from fabric to fabric across the pit.

I do the top of the rear collar.

Thank you! With well-worn shirts, it can be tricky to measure.
