Nike Air Max’s Max Air Units (1987)

These are, unfortunately, not my shoes. I saw these pictures on Niketalk, and they illustrate very well the huge air units in the first edition of the vintage Nike Air Max in 1987 (designed by Tinker Hatfield) I even have heard of stories that Nike had to recall some of these shoes because the air units exploded during use.

I just found your blog the other day have spent a while going through all your old posts. It is definitely one of the best sneaker blogs I’ve seen. You’ve got an amazing collection of vintage Nike runners.

Those 87s are absolutely gorgeous. That is what the model should look like. I would love it if old runners like that were wearable.

Could you post a picture of the two og Huarache Lights if you have both of them and wouldn’t mind taking a couple pictures? Thanks!

When tearing my retro Infrared AM90s apart I noticed that there is no forefoot air bag anymore. What's up with that?

Bought a pair of these during high school in 88. I want them again so badly. Can they be found now or do I have to settle for the retro remake with the small air unit? Someone help me please.
