Yeah, I had this experience. I guess I wanted the same (or similar) shoes as Agassi or McEnroe, but I got something a little different.
I really loved the shoes my Mom bought me, but I can't seem to identify/remember what exact style/model they were?
They were machine washable, low top, no strap across toes. White, bright pink, and dark navy colourways. I think they had the Nike Challlenge Court crest on the tongue. They had bright pink (elasticated) inners; kind of like a sock that was independent of the rest of the shoe. And they had plastic supports that came up from the soles to create the first two lace-holes at the front of the shoe.
I'm guessing I wore them between 1988 and 1992 (I must have had at least 2 pairs). I've always lived in Ireland, so they could have been a European release/variation.
If the description sounds familiar, I'd appreciate any pointers (name, links, etc.).
Thanks,
Miles-e-piles.
