Bold – Speak Out Tee

I’m haunted by an event that occurred over the weekend …

Over the weekend, I hit up the Farmer’s Market in Acton MA. Always a big day. Lots of fresh vegetables, and people love when we bring the dogs. That day was no exception.

Now, keep in mind, Acton is sort of a hoighty-toighty town. Real high taxes, cheapest house is probably in the 300k range, most lots are probably 3/4 acres, schools are phenomenal. You know, ritzy.

Now, Melissa and I are walking to the farmer’s market when a car pulls up at the intersection in front of us. There is a man driving, and a lady with a baby in the back seat. The window begins to roll down, and I begin to expect I’ll be giving out directions in a second.

“Wow, I haven’t seen a Bold shirt since 1988.”

And then he drives off. I gave a half hearted, “Awesome dude” while he was driving away, but mostly, I was too taken back to say anything. I was speechless and pretty shocked. Never would I have expected such a comment in this town or from a regular old dad type guy. He was genuinely enthusiastic, but gave no outward signs of being “a hardcore kid.”

I’m haunted because I didn’t get to ask if he had a trunk full of old tees at his house, or a chung king going to waste. I also didn’t get to ask him what bands he saw, or who we might know in common.

There’s always next week, though.
