Whoa. I happened to learn about the Hostage Calm Transit record release gig about 4 hours before the actual gig. And I am super glad someone clued me in. Since it was less than 10 miles from my work, it seemed like a bonehead move to NOT go to the gig. Especially with the lineup of bands playing. Of course, courtesy of shitty 128 traffic, it still took nearly 45 minutes to get there (and just to get back to work after the gig, stupid road construction …). The gig was at a local Unitarian Church in Wakefield, which was super overflowing with people. Even with a competing gig in Providence (Soul Control played, right?) this gig was still packed to the gills. Lots and lots of teens. It was weird. I’m not that old, and I was by far at least twice as old as a majority of the kids there. Thankfully I saw Garvey and we could grumble about sore knees and arthritis. Show started at 5pm and by the time I rolled up at 630, the “sold out” sign was already pasted to the door. D’oh.
Spent most of my time hanging behind the club since the gig was sold out. Which was unfortunate because it means I didn’t get to see Koji, Such Gold, Daylight or Transit. I did manage to slip in to watch Title Fight, and I’m super glad I did. These boys set it off. Morgado could have moshed and stage dived. Well, that’s if the church dude/ security guard / bouncer / 5th band member would have let him. He was super stingy with letting kids dive. It must be against church rules. At least Unitarian church rules. I don’t recall it stopping anyone from diving at the First and Second or the OCBC. And when he wasn’t busy knocking kids off stage, granted, there were WAY too many kids on stage, he was facing the crowd singing along. 5th member style. Whoooffff.
Only one let down. When Ned yelled “The Abused – Drug Free Youth,” I was ready for an amazing cover song. No cover song was played though. He was just shouting out an EXCELLENT track, which I can’t fault him. I’ll expect some Raybeez shout outs the next gig though.
Let’s check what ebay has to offer today in terms of merch. Plenty of gear, that’s for sure. Sellers have all sorts of goods up. Let’s check one from each of the following sellers: carloknowsbest, dickcritter (Richard Critter?!?!?), apalmer9019, y0soymilk.
This first shirt was available last night. I highly suggest you check the Title Fight merch store to see if you can one straight from the band.
Older, but good for you emo fans… just kidding emo fans.
Skate or die? It’s not tie dyed, but you’ll live.
Now this hood is just dope. It has a Obey Giant vibe to it. Definitely into it. Definitely not into a size small. WEAK. SAUCE.
There you have it. I look forward to the next gig. Check the twitter feed for more pics from the gig!
