Wallingford KOC

Lets talk about this show.

May 24, 2002 @ KOC Wallingford CT: Busted, the Heist, Carry The Torch, Say Goodbye, The First Step , Champion, What Feeds The Fire

7 years 364 days ago. Think about that. The Wallingford KOC always had a great vibe. The town was tiny with bricked crosswalks. Very homey. Cops would always be driving by making sure the situation was under control. But I don’t ever recall being hassled or even given the hairy eye. Very chill scene. You’d walk in the front door, and hang a left. If you went straight, you had to go downstairs to play poker with the members of the club. Real open club venue. No real stage, plenty wide. But someone would inevitably end up diving off a folding table holding up the PA system. Good move.

I honestly can’t even remember who the opening bands were. Busted? The Heist? I recall Carry The Torch, but I can’t really place them. Say Goodbye was definitely a chill band. Dudes went on to be in many excellent bands. Currently? Waste Managment.

Of course The First Step is chill. This could have been one of their first northeast shows, but don’t quote me on that. They got a great response. Kids were feeling it. This may have been one of Champion’s earliest east coast gigs too. Again, don’t quote. But I also recall kids LOVING it.

And What Feeds The Fire. These guys were essentially on their home turf. Ok, CT is figuratively a million miles away from Providence, but they always rolled with a solid crew. Kids came out for this gig and showed lots of love.

Overall? Great gig.

** Yes, I realize these are pics of Verse and Soul Control tees. There are no What Feeds The Fire tees on ebay now. Actually, you hardly ever see any xWFTFx on ebay …

*** Yes, I realize today is the 23 and the show occurred on the 24th. That’s why I didn’t say “8 years ago …”
