Where Is This Dude Getting His Information?

Seller iowncds has a lot of explaining to do, because I can state for a fact that all of the following auctions are full of false information.

Let’s start with the Taz tanktop. He claims:

These were made and sold at two separate shows. The first was the Six Feet Under Showcase in Philadelphia, PA on June 26, 2010 they sold out before the band even got a chance to play. They were also made and sold at Sound and Fury 2010 they also sold out there before the band got a chance to play. In total there is probably about 70 of these tank tops in existence.

Well, it’s partially true, in that they were sold at those two shows. Buttttt also a bunch of other shows. From the mouth of the Mob:

Who says there are only 75 of these?

These were sold at about 5 different shows. There’s definitely over
100 of these out there.

…they definitely did not sell out (at Sound and Fury).
I took a pretty good amount of these home with me on
an airplane. It cost me, like $25 in extra baggage.

Hey, mistakes happen. 70, 100… I can chalk that up to a guesstimate. But then he makes the same claim for this version:

Yeah, it’s not true for that either.

That blue one was only sold at the FP show and a local Boston show
afterwards. It did not sell out at the FP show, and we didn’t have
them at S&F because I didn’t like the way the design looked on the
blue shirt. Total imaginary information.

I can also attest to the blue versions not selling out at FP, as I had a bunch shoved in my hands with the request that I “take these so I’ll have less leftover merch sitting in my room”. But hey, the shirts are just two different colors, again, maybe it’s just a mistake. Maybe he just saw they had the same artwork, cut and pasted his description, and changed the word “tank tops” to “t-shirts”. It happens. So now let’s travel back to the Rival Mob merch table at United Blood 2010…

This design was made and sold at United Blood Fest 2010 which took place this past March. Only about 40 were printed and they sold out fast never to be reprinted.

Did these sell out at UB? Yes (fast is arguable, though Doug and I WERE kept pretty busy for awhile there). Were they never reprinted? Yes, and that’s a shame. Were there only 40? No.

We made at least 2x that many.

So at this point, I have to ask the question, who is giving him his information? I’d hate to think he’s just pulling the numbers out of his ass. So I figured I’d skim through his other auctions, see what else he is saying… and while most of the rest don’t make any claims to rarity, he isn’t helping my mind rest at ease any with these next two…

The band only made about two dozen of these all foam camo hats and they were mostly given out to friends only. Again the band never sold this hat.

So what happened to the rest of the “mostly” if this hat was never sold? I’ll tell you what happened to them, THEY WERE SOLD BY THE BAND. These hats were absolutely positively sold to the general public at least once I can think of: the Terror/Wrong Side/RJ show in Brockton. In fact, they weren’t the only RJ’s hat being sold that day: there was a sister version that was black with pink writing. I can’t speak to exactly how many were actually made, but at least a half dozen were accidentally left in the TWS merch box and sold haphazardly at later gigs.

Now look. Even though we’re 4 auctions of misinformation in, I still want to be fair and chalk this all up to a misunderstanding. I’m just that kind of guy. But this one. THIS ONE… ohhhh you pissed me off with this one buddy.

These were made and sold at the Great American Hardcore Fest which took place in Boston Fall of 2009. Only a few of this design were printed on ringer T’s and were given out to friends of the band.

False. Flat out false. You are straight up MAKING THAT UP. How do I know that? Because exactly ONE person would know the info on this, and that one person is me and nobody has asked me EVER. We made 100 of these, ALL on ringer tees, and exactly ONE was given away at the GAHC. The rest didn’t really sell; I got stuck with like half of what we made, and minus a couple stragglers I found in the car that I sold for cheap when we did that quickie set in Haverhill a couple months ago, they were all passed off to Dave Sausage to distro through Six Feet Under Records, where, oh weird, YOU CAN STILL BUY THEM!

So seriously dude, where are you getting your info from? Cuz while some of it’s close, you’re nowhere near getting a cigar, and I sure as shinola ain’t happy about the total fabrication that is that TWS description…

I had to file claim through Paypal for an Ebay shirt that he never shipped. Paypal decided in my favour after about 3 weeks. A crook and a liar is pretty bad combination. Good work here guys…

I’ve bought a shirt of two off this dude in the best, didn’t have any trouble with him, but he mentioned in the auctions how the shirts were friend-only when they clearly were not..i knew it, he knew it, everyone did.

So I’ve talked to the seller, and it turns out he’s not only a TTD reader, but someone both myself and the Mob member I spoke with know personally.

Turns out there was no malicious intent; he just plain thought he had the right information. Part of this is due to assumption, and part of it is miscommunication. In the case of the RJ’s hat, he had been told by a band member when they were made that they were a friends only deal, and then minds were changed. He’s planning on notifying the bidders and adjusting the descriptions so they are correct, as is fair and just.

Unless someone knows something I don’t, he is not the same dude who was selling the Mental Crew bootleg we posted on here way back when:

    http://teetilldeath.com/2010/05/04/mental-crew/

(Dig that complaint from slavko, of all people)

I can not speak with certainty on the CW thing, but my understanding is that he had permission from one band member, but another band member objected, hence the “we don’t mind BUT…” nature of the blog post.
