Righteous Jams – Invasion Tee

I got to hang with Spencer Crispe last night at the Bane/Blacklisted/Alert gig. Good dude. Obviously sk8s str8. I also got to hang with Pat Flynn of Have Heart (RIP) and James Garvey (who has an awful lot of PMA for a dude with neck tattoos) but they have no relevance to this story.

I asked Spencer about his very negative comments in reference to a Mr Jesse Standhard. It was probably the most negative material I have ever seen Spencer commit to bits and bytes. We discussed it at length but were sidetracked by vegan cupcakes, four year strong blasting from some girl’s car (“that’s right, I was listening to four year strong, and now I’m going to go watch blacklisted. Is that ok with you?” “Sure, I was just curious who that band was …”) and tales of Club 242 rioting.

If we had focused our conversation more, I would have put together this list of bands. Where each band keenly relied on the existence of Jesse Standhard.  Without JSH, some of these bands would not be remembered as they are today. And for other bands, they would not exist at all.

  • Follow Through
  • Tenfold
  • Fastbreak
  • American Nightmare
  • Right Brigade
  • Stop And Think
  • Invasion

And of course, Righteous Jams. Without the tutelage of his big brother Jesse, Joey C may have never formed Righteous Jams. And a world without Righteous Jams would be a shame.
