Downset has fuck all to do with hardcore. Saw and interviewed them on this tour. Rey “The Messenger” was wearing an Unbroken shirt and someone else had a Ressurection shirt, when I asked what they thought about Unbroken, both were silent and admitted that they have never even listened to the band, guess they just liked rocking “rare” shit. When I asked them about the tour name which is a rip off the comp 7″ they became all hot and bothered, and wanted to switch subject to how they “drop knowledge and shit” on stage. Admittedly they do have some listenable songs, but honestly, why even bother?

nope, just like RATM and Bodycount did not pass as hardcore, not even then.
that anecdote sacha wrote reminded me of the bands that just “couldn’t make it big as a hardcore band in da hardcore scene” and so went crossover, ’cause that’s the way to go when you want to hit the charts AND retain that street and hardcore credibility.
