So you’ve got the day off and wondering what to do with yourself. Well, let me suggest digging through alcontrast’s zine collection. Pick a few of these up, put your feet up and just read. It’s good for your brain, dude!
You can start with this limited zine from Andrew Strife. Made about a million years ago, limited to 50 copies.
You know how some people try to pull the “old man” card? “I got into hardcore before you were even born, man!” You know, lines like that? Well, in Al Quints case, he really was. There are pictures of Al singing along at Minor Threat gigs. In fact, he may be the only dude in hardcore who is actually older than Taylor 4 Walls Falling. Great zine too.
Last up is Al Contrast’s contribution to the zine world. Industrial Cows. This was his late 80s, early 90s book. Tons of great interviews with lots of notable bands. Get into it!
Damnn… That’s an old one right there! I still have a couple of copies laying around too!
Not sure why he would sell these…sort of sad really. I have more than a few of these and every few years revisit them and have a great time doing so. There are so many great issues of Suburban Voice out there…
Did you see Al’s “debt” blog? That’ll tell you why … bummer.
