This is a nice older Shelter shirt which looks to be in good condition(minus the tailoring down to a medium). I do not think that it is the first Shelter shirt, but I do believe it to be a very early design. There is a cool little Rev star logo on the back. If someone has some expert info on what the first Shelter shirt is, and where this shirt falls in the Shelter shirtography, please get in touch.
2nd shirt made….alhto the first that was ever widely produced (as in a run of 100 or so)
I have ray’s old tie dyed version of this…hippiecore
Ugh if there is one thing I hate to see, its the word “tailored”. Attention morons: stop ruining what I collect.
WE would love to see that! Please send us a picture!
I’m the moron that is selling this shirt and that had it tailored. I admit the tailoring didn’t work out quite right on this one — it’s now a little too small for me, but what do you guys do with shirts that are way too big? Do you actually wear them?
Yes I do. You wouldnt cut down a 12 inch sleeve to fit in a box of 7 inches would you?
Of course not. But I also wouldn’t wear the same size shirt I wore in 1992 either. I’m not saying tailoring is necessarily the way to go — I’ve seen some that looked great and others not so much, but it presents a dilemma for a brother that wants to occasionally rock an old shirt but doesn’t want to wear a dress.
Case in point — I have an og Rev Side by Side shirt. Too big to wear but I’m not gonna risk tailoring, so it sits. Haven’t worn it in years.
Fair enough and I understand your point but from a collectors stand point by tailoring it, it devalues it. Not saying I collect for money value or to resell it but it kills any interest I may have had in trading, buying or bidding on it. My original statement wasn’t stated directly at you but as generalization. It kills me when I see someone who had “x band” shirt, a shirt that is older than the person who owns is, and cuts it up so it fits them for 6 months. Just my 2 cents…
I hear ya. No worries. It’s an imperfect science :)
