It’s not often that I say this, but god bless the internet. You can seriously find the coolest information via the internet these days. A reader (thanks @thexkev) just shot over this link to the Metal Inquisition Blog and it blew my fucking mind. In this post, the author details his love of buske. Yes, yes, yes, I realize the post is over two years old, but somehow, no one ever clued me in to it. I feel like I’ve been enlightened.
Now go read the article then come back to check out these rad shirts from bybee9354.
This one SCREAMS “short wide.”
that nailbomb shirt!!!
as a metalhead kid growing up in the 90’s i remember pretty much all of my merch being printed on blue grape
I have a pretty decent collection of shirts that just so happen to be blue grape shirts but I never really saw, and still don’t see, the big deal with that company. I remember when they were around and they did pretty generic merch aside from some jerseys and stuff. Very typical and standard designs that merch companies like rockabilia have.
I don’t think its really the quality, or the originality of the designs that people get nostalgic over, more that they had the Monopoly on all their favourite when they were kids, so they get wistful over that. That’s why I have fond memories of old Blue Grape shirts anyway. Going through their merch catalogue when I was a kid, circling the stupidest stuff that I wanted to buy (Dog Eat Dog Jams, Obituary SOCKS! Biohazard long sleeve hockey shirts). Its just something cool that dudes remember from being young I guess.
Even Rammstein in 1998 on Blue Grape:
