Youth of Today – Youth Crew 88

Youth Crew 88 shirts rule. I have one but its soooooo shredded. I traded a Johnny Cash biography for it. Im not sure who got the better deal on that one. My shirt is so shredded. It has holes all over the back in the print. Anyways, here is one with red print on the front. Not too sure about the legitimacy of this one. Looks a little too crisp. This is the same seller as yesterday’s Bold shirt and again he says he got it from some “older dudes in the scene”. I think that “older guy” he is hanging out with is passing off some funny merch. I think he got played or more likely is just listing it like that just incase someone thinks its real he can get some extra scratch.

B. Murphy Update

No way is this legit. Compare it to Casali’s LEGIT one. Notice how there is actual color fading in a legit one.

Yeah I think your right Brian…did they ever print them with red ink on the front? Every one Ive ever seen has always been blue ink…could be wrong though

they did print them with red fronts, but that is definitely a boot. the YC88 shirts were printed in a big range of colors (example – dwid had an orange YC 88 shirt that he ripped off and threw into the crowd at some middlesex show in the very early 90s that was an original). The story goes that they kept the films with them and had the shirts remade at least twice, but maybe more than that, at random spots along that tour because they kept selling out. Looks like on the boot there was some loss of detail in the image, a good sign of a boot. Not on this one, but on many YC88 boots I have seen there are kerning and size issues in the “YOUTH CREW ACROSS AMERICA 1988” at the bottom of the image. That’s one of the first things I scope on any of these I come across. What a classic.
