Fake Screen Stars From Thailand-Pakistan

#ScreenStarsFail:

Compare it to the real deal:

No type of sought after vintage clothing is safe from Thailand’s bootlegging enterprise. They’re increasingly setting their sights on vintage because it’s far less risky to bootleg defunct vintage brands than current ones who actively seek-out counterfeiters. We’ve all seen the fake Harley Champion tees that we learned were manufactured in Thailand and then imported by sneaky North American eBay sellers. Unfortunately not all of these forgeries are hack jobs, some are indistinguishable from the real deal even in the hands of experts.

It’s pretty scary stuff. Keep your eyes peeled and give us the heads-up if you spot something suspicious floating around eBay.

8/15/ Update: A source from Thailand confirms the Harley Champion tees are local but we’ve been told that the Screen Stars tags were actually manufactured in Pakistan and brought back to Bangkok.

Will do, we haven’t stumbled on any of the other fake tags yet – if anyone notices one or has an example of their own please upload the image to the comments section.

So how old is the repro tag above? I have some shirts I know have been around for quite a few years (bought old stock from a bar that closed years ago), and they appear similar to the top one. I just noticed some of mine have a “TM” in lieu of the “R” in circle.

Yeah, that’s the same seller I got the Screen Stars tag photo from. They changed their location to say UK but it’s the same people, same account – still says Thailand in their direct profile:

I think they are old t-shirts – but none have a lot of value because they are all heat transfers – which are still floating around today and can be easily pressed on any t-shirt.

After seeing the screen star tag bootleg, I can’t tell if my new purchase TFF tank is real? It sort of looks white in person but slightly yellow too? Is there another identifying factor besides color? THANKS!

Yesss sir. Take a peak through our brandpedia:

Screen Stars seems to be the only one that suffered from counterfeiting. Safe to assume if you find a vintage t-shirt with a vintage brand – it’s legit.
